Introduction to Popups & Forms (For SHOPLINE Merchants)

Growing your contact list is a key step in building an effective marketing strategy. With SmartPush Popups & Forms, you can collect customer contact information directly on your storefront and convert visitors into subscribers.

SmartPush provides a variety of popup templates designed around different marketing scenarios and customer journeys. By displaying the right form at the right moment, you can expand your contact list, recover potential lost customers, and increase conversions.

Notes:

  • This article is for SHOPLINE merchants only.
  • Merchants on the Free plan can only use templates under Goal > Data Collection.

Popup & Form Categories

To help you quickly find the right form for your marketing goals, SmartPush organizes templates by goal, style, type, and theme.

1. By Marketing Goal

Data Collection
Designed for new visitors who have not yet subscribed. These forms encourage users to submit their contact information while browsing your store, helping grow your contact list.

Recovery & Retention
Triggered when visitors show exit intent, abandon checkout, or hesitate before purchasing. These forms help recover potential lost customers and increase conversions.

Coupon Marketing
When a customer enters your store through a promotional email, a popup displaying a coupon code can appear automatically to reinforce the promotion.

Driving Repeat Purchases
Templates such as Spin Wheel Popups use gamified interactions to encourage engagement and attract subscribers.

2. By Form Style

Image + Text Forms

These forms combine an image and text layout. You can add additional content blocks in the text section.

Note: The image block is part of the main structure and cannot be removed, though you can replace the image.

Spin Wheel Forms

Spin wheel forms introduce gamification by allowing customers to spin a wheel to win discounts or other rewards.

To use this template:

Go to Popups & Forms > Template Library, then select Goal > Drive Repeat Purchases and choose Spin Wheel (Pro).

You can configure:

  • Prize name
  • Prize type (coupon or other rewards)
  • Winning probability
  • Prize image

Notes:

  • The total probability of all prizes must equal 100%.
  • Free plan merchants cannot use Spin Wheel (Pro) templates.

3. By Form Type

Modal Popup (Centered)
A popup displayed at the center of the page. It interrupts browsing based on the trigger conditions you set.

Corner Popup
Displayed at one of the four corners of the page and does not interrupt the browsing experience.

4. By Template Theme

Templates are also grouped by marketing themes such as:

  • Welcome subscription
  • Holiday campaigns
  • Promotional events
  • Reminder notifications

New templates and themes are continuously added.

Enabling Popups & Forms

Before using popup forms, you must enable the SmartPush script.

  1. In the SHOPLINE Admin, go to Apps > My Apps > SmartPush > App Settings
  2. Enable the App Script toggle. Once enabled, popup forms can be displayed on your storefront.

Note: Popups currently support the following themes:

  • Ultra Chic
  • Kingsman
  • Varm

They are available on selected pages such as the homepage, product pages, cart page, checkout page, and member pages.

Creating and Editing a Form

Step 1: Create a Form

  • Go to SmartPush > Popups & Forms > Popup List
  • Click Create Form and select a template from the template library.
  • After selecting a template, you will enter the form editor.

Step 2: Configure the Form

1. Form Settings

Set:

  • Form active period
  • Tags for collected contacts

Tags can help you segment contacts for future campaigns.

New tags created here will appear as first-level tags in segment filters.

2. Display Settings

Configure how the popup appears and disappears.

Settings include:

  • Display device (Desktop / Mobile)
  • Popup type (Modal or Corner)
  • Close methods (close button, click outside, auto-close)
  • Display frequency

Display frequency controls how often the popup appears again if a visitor does not subscribe.

3. Targeting & Triggers

You can define who sees the popup and when it appears.

Target Audience
Filter visitors based on:

  • Login status
  • Purchase status
  • Country or region (based on IP)

Trigger Conditions

Popups can be triggered based on:

  • Page entry
  • Time on page
  • Scroll depth
  • Exit intent

Exit intent is detected when:

  • Desktop users move the cursor toward the browser bar
  • Mobile users swipe back or perform similar navigation actions

Stop Conditions

You can stop displaying the popup to a user when:

  • They subscribe
  • The popup has been shown a certain number of times

4. Adding Content Blocks

Use the drag-and-drop editor to build your form.

Available blocks include:

  • Text
  • Button
  • Email input
  • Phone input
  • Date input
  • Dropdown selection
  • Compliance agreement
  • Discount code
  • Image

These blocks allow you to design flexible forms to collect customer data.

Customize the overall appearance of your form, including:

  • Layout structure
  • Background color
  • Transparency
  • Shadow and rounded corners

Mobile devices only support vertical layouts.

6. Multi-Page Forms

Popup templates usually contain 2–3 pages, such as:

  • Information collection page
  • Coupon page
  • Success page

Users are automatically redirected to the next page after submitting the form.

7. Teaser (Collapsed Entry)

A Teaser is a minimized version of the popup displayed at the edge of the page.

Compared with full popups, teasers are less intrusive and allow visitors to continue browsing. When customers click the teaser, the full popup form will open.

You can customize:

  • Copy and style
  • Display position
  • Display timing
  • Background image
  • Close button behavior

Step 3: Publish the Form

After finishing the configuration:

  • Click Save & Exit to save the draft
