Abandoned Checkouts Recall Emails

Overview

Abandoned cart recovery refers to customers who have entered the checkout page while give up purchasing. This type of customers usually have a strong shopping will to enter the checkout page but are bothered by too many items of information on the checkout page, including address, payment method, or the registered account before payment, which could be the threshold and make them stop purchasing what they want. Therefore, except simplifying the necessary information, a few more times of sending emails/messages for recovery, together with friendly discount rates, the customer would change their mind.

Are there any abandoned cart recovery emails automatically sent by SHOPLINE Admin?

The iteration of setting capability in SHOPLINE Admin - Settings - Notification - Abandoned cart recovery - Advanced setting has been stopped, in order to improve the experience and performance of automatic sending for abandoned cart recovery emails, we suggest you to enable SmartPush Abandoned Cart Recovery

The email sending function in SHOPLINE Admin - Abandoned cart list - Manually send emails is still the SHOPLINE function and can be used based on existing logic, it will not be sent through SmartPush

Differences between SHOPLINE stores created before and after October 18, 2023

For SHOPLINE stores created after October 18, 2023

There would be 2 entrances in SHOPLINE Admin to enter SmartPush

First entrance: abandoned cart list

Second entrance: SHOPLINE Admin - Settings - Notification - Abandoned cart recovery - Advanced setting

When clicking any one of the entrances above, the page will automatically redirect to SmartPush (you need to complete two actions before entering SmartPush system: install SmartPush, register SmartPush account following the instruction, for more details please check at "How to complete abandoned cart recovery setting in SmartPush")

Of course, you can also directly search [SmartPush] in the App to install and use it

For SHOPLINE stores created before October 18, 2023

If you click and enter the SmartPush through the entrance in SHOPLINE Admin, you will enter below page and you can decide whether to agree to give up using the capability of abandoned cart recovery in SHOPLINE Admin - Advanced setting - Abandoned cart recovery by yourself. If you click [Agree to enable it], you should focus on below points:

555.png

1. Automatic sending in Settings - Notification - Abandoned cart recovery - Advanced setting will be disabled automatically and cannot be used anymore.

2. Abandoned cart recovery emails/messages sent through SmartPush

  • After sending it successfully (sending email to customer's inbox is deemed as a successful sending), the number of messages sent in SHOPLINE Orders - Abandoned cart list will be +1 (multiple nodes with successful sending will be counted for corresponding successful times), and the number of messages sent and sending status would be updated as well.

Special note: when sending the email, there could be various reasons causing failures of the email to be sent to customer's inbox. E.g. incorrect email address entered by customer, or the email is bounced back by customer's mailbox after sending

  • When the order of corresponding abandoned cart is created through the variable word [[checkoutur]] of SmartPush email, the recovery status will be automatically updated as [Recovery successful] (! special attention should be paid that if the customer doesn't enter corresponding abandoned cart page through [[checkoutur]], but click the product and enter the product listing page, then a new abandoned cart would be created. ID of both abandoned carts are different so the times and status would not be updated for original abandoned cart)

FAQs

Knowledge before starting: if you use SmartPush to send messages, SmartPush will redeem your messages as successfully sent only when they reach customer's mailbox, and notify the main station with the number of messages sent +1

Why could I find an abandoned cart without the number of messages sent or few number of messages sent in SHOPLINE Admin - Abandoned cart list

You can inspect from below perspectives:

1. Whether the abandoned cart automation task is at scheduled time to execute sending task

2. Whether the SmartPush store is in risk control, which caused your emails restricted for being sent, otherwise the number of messages sent will not be transferred back to main site111111.png

3. SmartPush will transfer back the sending status only when your emails reach the customer's mailbox, if the email is bounced back, then sending status will not be displayed on main site

4. Whether the contact email address of this abandoned cart is valid? SmartPush will verify the email address before sending emails, if the email is verified as with invalid address, or it has already been put into to the blacklist, then emails would not been sent to this address

For example: entered email address is example@g.mail.com, but the correct gmail format is example@gmail.com, then the entered address is incorrect, and emails will not be sent to it

5. Whether you have uninstalled the SmartPush, emails cannot be sent for abandoned carts generated during that period

6. If the status in SHOPLINE Admin - Abandoned cart recovery status is changed as "Recovery successful", then the number of messages sent transferred back by SmartPush to main site will not be stacked anymore

Why could I find the number of messages sent of an abandoned cart much more than what I have set in SmartPush for the sending node in SHOPLINE Admin - Abandoned cart list

You can inspect from below perspectives:

1. Whether you have enabled both the abandoned carts in SHOPLINE Admin - Settings - Notification - Abandoned cart recovery - Advanced setting and in the SmartPush. If they are enabled at the same time, the number of messages sent would stack data of both sides

2. Whether you have enabled multiple abandoned cart tasks in SmartPush. If enabled, then one abandoned cart would be executed by two abandoned cart tasks for sending, and the number of messages sent would be stacked
