Using the Video Block in Emails

Adding videos to marketing emails helps increase engagement with your customers and can effectively improve email click-through rates. With SmartPush, you can embed videos in your marketing emails and present your marketing content in a more engaging visual format.

This article explains how to add videos to your emails using the Video block and how to configure the video thumbnail and play button.

Note: This feature is only available for Free Trial and Paid stores.

 


 

Adding a Video to an Email

To add a video to your email using the Video block, follow these steps:

  1. In the Email Editor, go to Add blocks and drag the Video block into the email content area.

  2. In the settings panel on the right, go to the Video tab, then enter the URL of the video you want to embed in the Video URL field. 

  3. Then configure the Video thumbnail and Play button style as needed.
Note: SmartPush supports embedding videos from YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. If your video is stored locally on your device, upload it to a social media platform first and obtain the video URL before embedding it.

 


 

Setting the Video Thumbnail

In the Video thumbnail section, you can generate the video thumbnail using one of the following methods.

Auto-generate

  1. In the Video thumbnail section, select Auto-generate under Thumbnail type.

  2. Choose the thumbnail format from the dropdown list, such as Image or GIF.

  3. Click Generate to automatically create a thumbnail from the video.

Note: Auto-generate is supported for YouTube videos only

Customize

  1. In the Video thumbnail section, select Customize under Thumbnail type.

  2. Under Cover customization, upload an image to use as the video thumbnail.

Recommended image specifications:

  • Supported formats: JPEG, JPG, PNG, GIF
  • File size: less than 200 KB
  • Maximum image width: 600 px

 


 

Setting the Play Button Style

After setting the video thumbnail, you can customize the style and color of the play button:

  1. In the Play button style section, select your preferred button style to determine the appearance of the play icon.

  2. Under Button color, choose a color for the play button.

  3. After configuring the settings, preview the play button directly in the editor to ensure it matches your email design.
