Saving Custom Templates and Reusing Them in Emails or Automation

SmartPush allows you to save custom email designs as templates and reuse them in future marketing emails or automation tasks. This helps maintain consistent branding and reduces the time needed to design emails from scratch.

You can save templates created using the SmartPush email editor or import HTML email templates from external platforms.

Ways to Save Custom Templates

You can save templates using one of the following methods:

  • Save email designs created with the SmartPush editor: This includes emails created within Campaigns or Automations.
  • Import HTML email templates from external platforms: Upload HTML email templates created outside SmartPush.

Saving Email Designs Created with the SmartPush Editor

Follow these steps to save an email design created in the SmartPush editor:

  1. In the SmartPush admin panel, go to Campaigns or Automations, then open the Email Editor.
  2. Create or edit your email content. After completing your design, click Save template at the top of the editor.

  3. In the pop-up window, choose one of the following options and complete the setup accordingly:

    • Save as a new template: Enter a name for the template to save it as a new template.
    • Update existing template: Select the template you want to replace from the dropdown list.
  4. Click Save as a template to confirm.

After the template is saved, go to Campaigns > Template Library > Saved templates to view and manage your saved templates.

Important Notes About Saved Templates

Template limit

Each store can save up to 100 templates.

Template compatibility

The available blocks may differ between campaign emails and automation emails. You can identify the template type using filters or by checking the label icons displayed on the template card:

  • Email icon: Indicates a campaign email template, which is intended for marketing campaigns.
  • Automation icon: Indicates an automation email template, which is intended for automation workflows.

Using campaign templates in automation

If you apply a template originally created for campaign emails in an automation task, some required blocks may be missing.

For example, when setting up an Abandoned Cart Recovery automation, the saved template may not contain complete order details. You can manually add the Order Information block in the automation editor to ensure the automation works properly.

Automation templates usage restriction

Templates saved within automation tasks can only be used for automation emails.

If you attempt to use an automation template when creating a marketing campaign email, the system will display a message indicating that some block features may not be available.
