Collecting Contacts' Information
Smartpush uses two primary methods to gather customer information, helping you better understand your customer profiles and enabling more precise segmentation and marketing strategies.
Popups & Forms
Smartpush's Popups & Forms section provides a rich collection of popup form templates. These forms allow you to collect customer information such as names, emails, phone numbers, countries, and birthdays.
When a customer submits a form, Smartpush automatically synchronizes the collected data to your Smartpush Contacts section and your SHOPLINE/Shopify Customers section.
Note: If you only collect non-identifiable information like birthdays, genders, and countries without an email address or phone number, and the customer is not logged in while filling out the form, Smartpush won't sync the data due to the inability to match the customer's unique identifier. |
Email and SMS
To expand your potential customer base, Smartpush synchronizes the email addresses and phone numbers of customers who open your emails or SMS messages to your Smartpush Contacts section and your SHOPLINE/Shopify Customers section.
Example: When you set up an abandoned cart recovery automation, Smartpush will send a notification to customers who meet the abandoned cart criteria, regardless of their subscription status. When the customer opens the email or SMS, Smartpush identifies them and syncs their contact information to your Smartpush Contacts section and your SHOPLINE/Shopify Customers section.
Rules for Contact Synchronization
For customer data collected through popups & forms, email, and SMS, Smartpush will match and synchronize information with existing contacts based on emails and phone numbers. Here are the detailed rules:
- No Email/Phone Number Collected: Customer data will not be synced.
- Only Email Collected: Contacts will be matched by email:
- If a contact with the same email address exists in the list: Additional information collected (such as name, birthday, etc.) will be added/updated to this contact.
- If no matching contact is found: A new contact will be created in the list, and all collected information will be synced to this new contact.
- Only Phone Number Collected: Contacts will be matched by phone number:
- If a contact with the same phone number exists in the list: Additional information collected (such as name, birthday, etc.) will be added/updated to this contact.
- If no matching contact is found: A new contact will be created in the list, and all collected information will be synced to this new contact.
- Email A and Phone Number B Collected:
- If no contact exists with email A or phone number B in the list: A new contact will be created, and all collected information will be synced to this new contact.
- If a matching contact with either email A or phone number B is found:
- If the other contact information is non-empty and different: A new contact will be created, and all collected information will be synced to this new contact.
- If the other contact information is empty or the same: The collected information will be added/updated to this contact.
Note: When an email is collected but the contact name is empty, Smartpush will automatically use the email prefix (the part before the @ symbol) as the contact name. |
