As countries, regions, and local carriers implement stricter SMS regulations to protect consumers, compliance is essential to ensure successful message delivery.
To meet these requirements, SmartPush requires merchants to apply for a sender number for certain countries or regions, depending on where their SMS recipients are located.
This article explains the supported countries or regions, when a sender number is required, how to apply for one, and the SMS top-up requirements before submission.
Country or Region Availability and Applicability
SmartPush currently supports SMS services in the 17 countries or regions listed below. If your contacts are located outside these areas, SMS sending will not be available.
For certain countries or regions, applying for a sender number is mandatory. Countries are divided into three sender number groups:
- Group 1: North America (Random number assigned)
- Group 2: Custom Alphanumeric Sender ID (3–11 characters)
- Group 3: No Sender Number Required
You only need to apply once per group, and the approved sender number can be used across all countries within that same group.
For example:
- If you apply for Group 1, the assigned number can be used in both the United States and Canada.
- If your recipients are located in countries across multiple groups, you must apply separately for each applicable group.
- If your recipients are located in Group 3 countries, no application is required. SmartPush will send SMS messages as usual.
