SmartPush integrates with Meta "custom audience", syncing your SmartPush contact lists directly to Meta custom audience to help you deliver more precise ads and achieve greater marketing efficiency. This article explains how to use this feature and provides best-practice recommendations.
*Note: This feature is only available for merchants on paid SmartPush plans.
In this article, you'll find:
1. How to connect your Meta account
*Note: If you have already authorized and linked your Meta account, you can proceed directly to "2. How to connect Meta custom audiences".
Step 1
In the SmartPush Admin, go to [Apps] > [Integrations]. Click Authorize in the Meta Ads list.
Step 2
You’ll be redirected to the Meta (Facebook) login page. Enter your account and password, then click Log In.
Step 3
Follow the steps in the pop-up window to select the account and Facebook Page you want to authorize. Then, review the access permissions.
Step 4
Once confirmed, a success message will appear. Click OK, and you will be redirected back to SmartPush automatically.
2. How to connect Meta custom audience
Step 1
In the SmartPush Admin, go to [Apps] > [Integrations]. In the Meta Ads list, click the "⋯" icon and select Set up.
Step 2
In the "Select the data to sync" step, select the "Custom Audience" block, and click Next step.
Step 3
Select an "Ad account" and click Add connect. In the pop-up window, select a SmartPush customer segment and a Meta custom audience to connect. Then, click Add to complete.
*Notes:
- Before connecting with SmartPush, your Meta account must already have at least one existing ad audience. If you do not have any audiences, please create one in the Meta Ads Manager first.
- SmartPush can only be linked to one Meta account, but it can connect to multiple audiences within that account, with up to 50 connections allowed.
- SmartPush only syncs valid contacts (valid email addresses or valid phone numbers) to Meta.
- When the number of contacts in a SmartPush customer segment increases or decreases, the linked Meta custom audience will be updated accordingly. After the connection is completed, an initial sync will run immediately, followed by daily updates thereafter.
- The number of contacts in a SmartPush segment must be greater than 100 and less than 500,000. If the contact count is below 100 or exceeds 500,000 before connecting, the connection cannot be created. If the contact count falls below 100 or exceeds 500,000 during synchronization, the sync will be paused.
- Currently, audiences in Meta that contain the "customer value (value)" column are not supported for connection. If your uploaded audience includes this column, it is not available for selection in SmartPush.
Step 4
Once you have selected the SmartPush customer segment and the Meta custom audience, click Save and update.
A pop-up window will display "Sync completed".
3. Best practices
i. Automation
Create an automation and tag users who have abandoned their carts without making a purchase. Use this tag to create a segment, then sync the segment to a Meta custom audience to further retarget these users on Meta.
For more details, please refer to: "Introduction to Automation Process".
ii. Segment
Use the filter condition (e.g., customer behavior: customers who have purchased a particular product) to create a segment, then sync the segment to a Meta custom audience. Target these customers with ads for product set or similar products on Meta.
For more details, please refer to: "Understanding SmartPush Segments".
iii. AI customer lifecycle
Create a segment based on the SmartPush customer lifecycle, then sync the segment to a Meta custom audience using this feature. On Meta, target these customers or create lookalike audiences to run more efficient ads.
For more details, please refer to: "Customer lifecycle".
